About Law Connection

Law Connection provides British Columbian teachers and students with an opportunity to learn about important issues happening in the law today and a chance to engage in activities and discussions that enhance the learning process.

The website was launched in 1996 by the Centre for Education, Law and Society (CELS) in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University. In 2002, CELS developed a partnership with the Justice Education Society. Law Connection continues to reflect the work of both organizations and we graciously acknowledge the contributions provided by the Law Clerks at the BC Courts.

During the school year, Law Connection regularly highlights legal issues - matters being dealt with in the media, the courts or the legislature - with background information on the featured issue and Teaching Resources for use in the classroom.

The articles are written by people who have graduated from law school and are working as Law Clerks with the Courts of BC as part of their articling requirements before they become practicing lawyers. CELS uses this information to develop the Overview and Teaching Resources.
